Formerly, parish members of Großschweidnitz belonged to the parish of Niedercunnersdorf and not to the St. Barbara parish as they do today.
Services of the St. Barbara parish are also held in the hospital church of the neighbouring village of Großschweidnitz and, due to its great acoustics, the members of the parish often use the hospital church of Großschweidnitz for sacred musical events.
